Official biography as of 11/2004

Clad In Darkness began with the meeting of two guitarists: founding members Coy and
John. After meeting in the autumn of 1999, the two decided to combine their musical views
and talents into what would eventually be known as Clad In Darkness.

The early music of Clad In Darkness somewhat resembled a very choppy mix of Opeth
and Dissection. The songs were long, dynamic and intense, but still sounded very rough
and were lacking (and still are to a point) the fluidity that becomes necessary when mixing
clean and distorted guitars back to back.

At first the "band" consisted solely of two guitars, but soon it became apparent that in order
to get anywhere with the songs the line-up would have to be completed. So the search
began for a drummer, bassist and vocalist.

Through word of mouth and the Internet, certain drummers and bassists were contacted
and jam sessions were held. Although these sessions helped the music progress into what it
is today, all of the drummers and bassists either were not fit to be a part of CID, or were
not able to commit to the band.

The search continued while Coy and John continued writing and rewriting songs. Soon we
met the two people that would make Clad In Darkness the entity that it is today. Drummer
Andrew and bassist Chris were both met over the Internet and soon jam sessions were
planned. It was clear from the beginning that everyone was happy and enthusiastic about
the songs and the future of Clad In Darkness.

Now complete with a drummer and bassist, all CID was missing was the all-elusive
vocalist. After trying out a few different vocalists, Coy decided that it would be best if he
took on the duties himself. This, however, did not quite work out as he couldn't sing and
play guitar at the same time. Not long afterwards though, a new vocalist came along and
with the addition of Casey to the CID family, the line-up is now complete. The first official
release, the demo entitled "Crimson Horizons," was then recorded in December, 2003.

Currently, we have just parted ways with drummer Andrew and picked up Brian, the
former drummer of death metal band Sapphist, as his replacement.
